Due to Coronavirus restrictions and concerns for our customers and employee’s health the following procedures will take affect Wednesday, June 3, 2020. Woodbury County Treasurer’s office will be open for public access. The Treasurer’s office will be practicing social distancing and limiting the number of customers. We ask only one customer per transaction. Our hours will be 8:00am-4:00pm with the doors locked promptly at 4:00pm.
Customers who need to renew their vehicle and pay property taxes can continue to do so through the mail or on the Woodbury County website. www.woodburycountyiowa.gov. You can call for your pin# or receipt # if you do not have it. 712-279-6500 for Vehicle and 712-279-6495 for Tax.
On March 18th, Gov Kim Reynolds issued a State of Public Health Disaster Emergency. She issued a Proclamation changing the following things within the Treasurer’s office.
The deadline of paying property taxes has been extended from March 31st, 2020 to July 31st, 2020 with penalty beginning August 1st, 2020.
If you have purchased a vehicle or moved into Iowa from March 16 - July 25 2020, you must apply for title and registration by August 25, 2020.
If you were issued temporary plates by a dealer from March 16 - July 25, 2020, you must affix permanent plates by Sept. 8, 2020.
If you have a registration that expired January 2020 - July 2020, you must renew registration by August 31, 2020.
If you are purchasing or transferring a vehicle after July 26, you will be required to obtain a title & registration within 30 days.
Effective immediately, the drive-up window will be open for vehicle renewals and tax payments with tax statement only. Any delinquent taxes will not be accepted at the drive-up window. Only cash or check will be accepted at the drive-up window.
Dealers will need to come to the alley door to drop off and pick-up work.

Effective January 1, 2020, a bill of sale will be required on all (dealer and private) vehicle transfers.
The Iowa State Treasurer's Association in conjunction with the Iowa Department of Revenue aim to substantiate vehicle purchase prices.
The minimum requirement on the bill of sale will be: year, make, model and VIN. It will also need to be signed by both the buyer and seller with the date of sale and the purchase price.

The Motor Vehicle Division of the Treasurer's Office issues vehicle titles and licenses, registers, collects all vehicle fees for the residents of Woodbury County. The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) issues hunting and fishing licenses, and also processes titles and registrations for boats, ATVs, and snowmobiles.

The Woodbury County Treasurer's offices in Sioux City (Motor Vehicle-Trosper/Hoyt Building) and Anthon are the only treasurer's offices in the state to offer DNR serices.
